Please Depart — Rehearsal

Click: PLease Depart

This is a sneak preview. I wrote this song with Willy Porter a couple weeks back in anticipation of a gig we are both doing in July at Bastille Days. Willy is going to jump up with Semi-Twang for a song or two or three and I expect it to be a lot of fun. It certainly is fun writing songs with Willy, he has a very loosey-goosey approach to things, but it’s backed up by miles of technique and discipline. He is, as you might already know, an amazing guitar player and singer. What you may not know is that he is kind of a sick puppy, but in a good way. I kind of pushed him with this song and I think we found a place where his black humor meets mine. My favorite line is “Go shine your pocket knife.” I think Willy wrote that. This song is the first thing Semi-Twang rehearsed for our next recording. It’s starting to take shape in our heads and I think it will have some oddly cool songs on it. So please forgive the completely ragged nature of this one-mic run through—I thought you might like to hear how songs sound before they get that final coat of varnish.
