I Found Out—Flaco Version

Click: I Found Out

Happy Septo De Mayo. I realized one nano-second after I hit the “publish” button yesterday’s post that I had promised Flaco Jimenez doing my song for Cinco De Mayo. That’s what it’s like being me. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Flaco, he is the king of the Norteno accordion and one of the Texas Tornadoes. His music straddles the border and is also called “Tex-Mex.” He recorded my song in 1999, probably with a sense of the millenium dawning and wanting to do something really important. Or his producer, Pete Anderson, played it for him and he liked it. That was probably what it was. Pete put together a crack band and played the ridiculously great guitar on it. When he trades licks with Flaco at the end, I want to jump out of my skin. It is sung by Bekka Bramlett, who is the daughter of Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett—her great DNA shines through on this track. Thrilled when I heard it, still thrilled. Happy Septo, everybody… don’t overdo it!
