Click: TKO

There’s a reason you don’t hear lot of badminton songs, in fact there are probably quite a few. It’s not the most colorful sport. Aside from hitting a “birdy” around, there aren’t many badminton terms that come to mind easily. Boxing, though, is another story—it’s got jabs and hooks, roundhouses and upper cuts, bantam and cruiser weights and the sad cases who wind up in Palookaville. It also has the TKO, which, for the uninitiated, is a technical knockout. Too many TKOs or regular KOs  and a boxer winds up on Queer Street, which has nothing to do with his preferences and everything to do with the permanent wobble his brain has been put in. Football players get to wear helmets and they still suffer from the batting around their skulls take. Imagine taking the helmet off and letting some 230 pound gorilla pound on your head all night. The guy in this song suffers an even more traumatic fate, he’s been laid low and sent to his corner by that cute little thing he thought he could handle. This demo is all me, I think, and recorded I don’t know where or when. You’d think it was me that had gone one too many rounds with Firpo or Dempsey.
