Ice Turns To Steam

Click: Ice Turns To Steam

This is a love song from Quiver. Most of the songs on that collection were love songs too, but they describe it in more of an unrequited state. I kind of like the idea of ice becoming steam and skipping the whole water part—I’m not sure where that came from. It is from my working-through-Dylan’s-influence phase, which has never really ended. There’s a nice interplay of two acoustics, me strumming and Mike Hoffmann finger-picking. The middle section inflates to become a great big fake Salvation Army band with Victor DeLorenzo helping out on drums and then that deflates for the last verse. I like arrangements that have surprises like that and this might be the best one we did back then. I still do this song from time to time and always enjoys singing it. I hope you enjoy listening to it.
