Trash Talk

Click: Trash Talk

In 2003 I recorded a CD of songs I co-wrote with Michael Feldman. All of them were freshly minted and represented a real surge of creativity. As a bonus, I got to go to Springfield, MO to work with The Skeletons. This band defies description, so let me try. Imagine what you would get if you inserted a guitar player like Roy Buchanan into Sam The Sham and The Pharohs. That would get you about half-way there, because D. Clinton Thompson, better known as Donny, is that kind of mind-boggling talent. The boys in the band are all great players, but what they play is just as important—it’s a mix of their own fractured originals and a selection of the most demented and poignant American music imaginable. To work with this group I had admired for a good twenty years was a thrill and they didn’t let me down. My only regret is that played any guitar at all, but they probably felt I should have a moment or two! On this song, we teamed up to layer a few tracks of chicken picking, it fits the theme quite well.
