Rene In The Hot Pink Dress

Click: Rene In The Hot Pink Dress

Song Noir—that’s what this is. This girl is so hot you can’t put her picture on a matchbook cover. I made Zion, Illinois her birthplace for a reason. People in my hometown of Kenosha could drive across the border and actually look down on someone from that town. I’m sure the people of that town were looking at us and doing the same. In this song there’s all kinds of damage, but let me assure you, it’s all fiction. I have no idea where this one came from—it was probably living next door to Noah or Birmingham last fall, locked in my subconscious until I started locking myself in the powder room every morning and writing. You meet some interesting people in the bathroom. The important thing is, I get to use the archaic expression “buddy.” Nobody says that anymore and it’s kind of sad. Do we all have to say “dude” now? Rene would just walk by a  guy who used a lame expression like that, maybe flick her ashes in his beer. Buddy beware!
