Rocking In The Cradle

Click: Cradle

Here’s hoping that after 116 posts, this song, the only official lullaby to date, is the first one that puts you to sleep. I think it’s safe to say Caterwaul, the rambunctious tune from a couple days back, wasn’t a lullaby—but I have to admit I do crank out a lot of ballads. There’s something about a lot of quiet time spent sitting around with an acoustic guitar making things up that just sort of lends itself to a more laid back approach. But lullabys are different, they actually have a purpose. You use them to get those overtired and cranky younguns to sleep. Around here, the collection of grand nephews and nieces is growing rapidly. There’s Charlie (the boy), Molly, Alex, Charlie (the girl) and Louisa (we hoped she would be called Lulu, but her parents have better sense than that). They’re all so dang cute and lovable you just feel like cooing when you see them—or writing a lullaby. Since I look pretty ridiculous when I coo, I chose the lullaby route. Background vocals are by the world renowned John Sieger Quartet and the stand up bass and grand piano come to you courtesy of the Xpand plug in in Pro Tools. I love the future!
