I Want To Join Your Solo Act – With Joy Lynn White

Click: I Wanna Join Your Solo Act

I am so glad I’m doing this blog! I keep finding things that I haven’t heard in ten years or more and this one really grabbed me. First of all, look at that picture—you know I didn’t draw that. It’s Joy Lynn White and if it were a color picture, you would be aware of some very red hair. I know Joy will be reading this but I’m going to go right ahead and say it anyhow, she is a trip! It’s not like she hasn’t heard that comment before. She’s a great singer and for a little gal, she really packs quite a wallop. The word feisty has been bandied about when describing her. You can visit her site and read about her or visit Robbie Fulks’ (where you’ll have to dig around a bit) for some funny tales of adventures they’ve shared. Aside from her own recordings, you can find her harmonizing with the likes of Lucinda Williams and many others on their projects. We worked on a few songs together in Nashville back in the ’90s and, while I remember some quite well, this one somehow was only a vague memory. It’s really a shame in a lot of ways, to think that not only had I almost forgotten it, but it never got a chance to be heard or enjoyed by others. We can fix that today—here it is, in all it’s ragged glory, making it’s world debut: I Want To Join Your Solo Act.
