The Dreamer (Demo)

Click: The Dreamer

Michael Feldman says he wrote this lyric about me. I am a bit of a dreamy character, with a tendency to space out from time to time. Diagnosed with ADD as an adult. They never caught it as a kid because I wasn’t hyper. Apparently there are two kinds—who knew? Nobody back then, apparently. I’m from an era where it wasn’t even called ADD. It was called “he’s a dreamer.” Think I like that better. It’s a fine line between things they prescribe pills for nowadays and creativity. I read up a little on the matter and apparently it wasn’t so bad to be “differently organized” before the modern, industrialized era. That was time when you had to juggle many thoughts and could do it without, say driving off the road. Now the climate has changed (there are roads and cars) and yet it seems there are more people with short attention spans than ever. What were we talking about? Oh yeah… the song! This is the demo I made before I went to Springfield, MO to cut this with The Skeletons for Her Country. I like the recording we did, I don’t think demo-itis was a problem, but listening to this drum machine demo recently, it has it’s own modest charm. And I’d like to share it with you. Sweet dreams!

Easy-going rhythm and easy-going vocal. I was dreaming along with this song.

“What were we talking about? Oh yeah… the song!”

    Biggest smile of the day.
This blog is like waking up everyday with someone handing you a present. You don’t know what to expect, but it always makes your day. And that someone has taken the time to write a note inside the card explaining why they picked that gift for you today. Oh..and let’s not forget the about the hand-drawn gift wrap.

It all seems too good to be true, but everyday someone is there handing you another present. All you can do is say thanks and hope the person knows the joy they bring…so thanks for today’s gift!

Mart wrote this song, John–I swear to God in your kitchen between sip of beer and puff of cig she said of you “his eyes open in.” And she loved that about you, boy.
