Doggy Dog World

Click: Doggy Dog World

Guest illustrator today is T-pot, the nome de plume of a more serious artist named Tom Shannon, who I have known since high school. Although these aren’t dogs, you get the idea, it’s a fish-eat-fish world as well. The lyrics by my other partner in crime of long standing, Mike Feldman, come from his grandmother’s mispronunciation of “dog-eat-dog.” Sometimes a song idea is nothing more than that, a little line that trips something in your brain and it’s off to the races. I’m not saying that this particular acorn has produced a mighty oak, but I like novelty songs, which I guess this is. The demo is so ragged it should be on a street corner with a sign looking for handouts. That’s what you get sometimes with Tune Du Jour, a lot of the big production money nowadays goes elsewhere and modest little tunes like this are on their own—it’s a song-eat-song world.
