You Don’t Know

01 You Don’t Know (A) 11-15-2010

This song is kind of instant nostalgia. It has a pre-rock’n’roll sensibility even though it was written A.E. (After Elvis) It doesn’t really sound like an old recording either, so it’s stuck in between. Although I wouldn’t want to argue too strongly for a trifle like this, it is pleasant enough to share. My intention was to capture that foggy state between possibility and terror you experience when love is off to a fine, if slightly unbelievable start. You sort of pinch yourself and ask yourself questions that are similar to the ones doctors use to test concussed quarterbacks. Anyway, our hero is experiencing symptoms, not all of them unpleasant. He’s walking on a cloud and looking down at the world in wonder, aware of the potential fall, but a little loopy at the same time. In short, he don’t know.
